“We need to stay positive”
In the wake of Liverpool’s hard-fought 2-2 draw against Manchester United, midfielder Wataru Endo offered a candid assessment of the team’s performance and urged his teammates to maintain a positive mindset as they continue their pursuit of Premier League glory. As Arsenal surged ahead in the title race with a resounding 3-0 victory over Brighton, Liverpool found themselves grappling with the disappointment of dropping crucial points at Old Trafford.
Reflecting on the missed opportunities that marred their encounter against United, Endo expressed a sense of frustration at the outcome, lamenting the failure to capitalize on their dominant display in the first half. “We’re disappointed about the result because we had a lot of chances in the first half. I think we could have scored more and we could play better. We’re disappointed about the result,” Endo candidly admitted in an interview with ‘Viaplay’.
Acknowledging the importance of a strong start, Endo emphasized the need for Liverpool to convert their early dominance into tangible results on the scoreboard. Despite a promising opening, Endo rued the inability to convert chances into goals, lamenting the impact it had on the final outcome. “We knew that we needed to start strong from the beginning of the game – I think we did from the beginning. We had a lot of chances, so if we score a few [more] goals in the first half, I think the result would be different,” he remarked.
Looking ahead to the challenges that lie on the horizon, Endo highlighted the significance of maintaining a positive mindset and unwavering determination in the face of adversity. With pivotal fixtures against local rivals Everton, Champions League contenders Tottenham, and Aston Villa looming large on the horizon, Endo stressed the importance of resilience and unity within the squad. “But it’s happened, so we need to stay positive and keep going,” he urged, rallying his teammates to maintain their focus and commitment as they navigate the final stretch of the season.
As Liverpool’s title aspirations hang in the balance, Endo’s words serve as a rallying cry for the team to draw strength from their setbacks and channel their collective resolve towards achieving their ultimate goal. With the title race heating up, every point becomes increasingly precious, making Endo’s call for positivity and perseverance all the more pertinent in the quest for Premier League glory.
