Diogo Dalot makes it clear he disagrees with Erik ten Hag in brutal Man Utd assessment

Manchester United’s Diogo Dalot recently weighed in on the team’s tactical approach following a challenging encounter against Bournemouth, where the visitors faced a relentless barrage of attacks in a 2-2 draw at the Vitality Stadium.

Dalot candidly acknowledged the issue of conceding a high volume of chances, a concern that contrasts with manager Erik ten Hag’s stance. Despite Ten Hag’s insistence to the contrary, the scrutiny over United’s defensive vulnerability has intensified, especially with the team enduring a barrage of shots in numerous recent matches. In fact, in nine out of their last 10 Premier League games, the Red Devils have allowed their opponents to unleash at least 20 shots, including the showdown against Bournemouth.

To salvage a point against the Cherries, United had to twice rely on Bruno Fernandes’ heroics. However, Dalot expressed his apprehension regarding the team’s defensive fragility when questioned about the number of chances conceded. He noted, “I think it’s a fact, something we are looking for. Maybe we are taking too many risks, sometimes the gap between the defence and midfield is a little bit too big.”

Acknowledging the need for improvement, Dalot emphasized the team’s commitment to learning from such experiences. Despite the disappointment of not securing all three points, he highlighted the squad’s resilience and determination to fight back despite finding themselves trailing twice during the match. Dalot attributed their inability to fully control the game to lapses, particularly in their build-up play from the back, which led to conceding two goals in the first half.

The debate now lingers: Whose perspective resonates more—Dalot’s concerns or Ten Hag’s approach? The discourse continues, inviting opinions on this intriguing tactical dilemma.
