Arsenal defeated Everton 2-1 at the Emirates but that victory was not enough to end their wait for the Premier League title as Manchester City beat West Ham 3-1 to be crowned champions. After Arsenal’s final-day victory over Everton, Declan Rice shared his post-match message to the squad.
Although the win could not secure them the Premier League title, Rice encouraged his teammates to carry the disappointment as motivation for the future.
Speaking to Stadium Astro, Declan Rice pointed out the need for the players to remember the feeling of defeat throughout the summer break.
He urged them to channel that feeling into the next season’s games, believing they have the capability to win the title with a little more effort.
“Yeah, we have to be. I think I’ve just said to the boys then, that feeling that we have now in our stomach, we need to live with that all summer and come back and know what that feeling’s like today of losing and take it into the next 38 games next year because we’re capable of winning it, but we’ve come up short again. It’s just about adding that little bit more and I’m sure we can get it over the line,” Declan Rice said.
The defeat was a bitter pill to swallow for Arsenal, falling short once again against Manchester City, who clinched their fourth consecutive league title.
Despite the setback, Arsenal is preparing to do good business this summer in the transfer window. The club is eyeing marquee signings to strengthen their squad.
Arsenal have expressed interest in Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United and are in talks with RB Leipzig for young striker Benjamin Sesko.
While facing Manchester City head-on for the title remains a daunting challenge, Arsenal remains determined to improve and challenge for the title next year.
